PhD Studentship post in the UK, October 2014


 Tom Gerken, PhD Studentship

 We have appointed Tom to our PhD research studentship at UEL in Addiction, At-Risk Youth & Digital Media: Development & Evaluation of an Internet Radio Intervention to Reduce Substance Misuse among Excluded and Hard-to-Reach Youth.  This is a multidisciplinary collaboration between Education, Psychology and Performing Arts funded by the Cass School of Education & Communities.   Tom joins us from the BBC where he worked as a Department Researcher for BBC Wales, editing audio ready for broadcast as well as running BBC social media channels, recording and interviewing athletes.  Tom has a postgraduate degree in Radio Production, several years in executive roles of internet radio stations, experience running social media at a professional level and is keen to return to academia whilst staying active in radio production.   Tom has also made a number of creative radio dramas over the years, with experience in writing scripts and editing.

Tom is supervised by Prof.  Andrew Ravenscroft along with Co-Supervisors: Dr Meredith Terlecki (Clinical Psychology) and Gordon Kerr (Head of Music Technology).
