New ‘Excellence’ Funded PhD studentship at UEL

In the UK, RadioActive101 has been successful in winning a second University of East London ‘Excellence’ Funded PhD studentship!  These doctorate studentships are funded for three years and the latest PhD examines Digital Media in Therapy: Development & Evaluation of a Participatory Radio Drama Intervention to Improve Psychotherapy Outcomes among At-Risk Youth with Conduct Disorder.  Amanda Cooper will continue to collaborate across 3 Schools: Cass School of Education and Communities, The School of Psychology and The School of Arts and Digital Industries (ADI) at the University of East London.   We congratulate Amanda on winning the studentship and wish her success in this exciting research area.

RadioActive101 Presents at two Conferences

Andrew Ravenscroft & PhD student Tom Gerken will be presenting Deep Learning Design for Social Innovation: Participatory Radio for Developing 21C Skills with Disenfranchised Learners  at the 10th European Conference on Technology Enhanced Learning.  This year’s conference is taking place in Toledo, Spain between 14-18 September 2015.

And around the same time Colin Rainey will present Implementing and Evaluating the ‘space’ of Participatory Radio as an Educational Intervention for Inclusion, Self-efficacy and Informal Learning at the British Educational Research Association’s Annual Conference in Belfast, UK, 15-17 September 2015.

RadioActive101 wins €21K Research Capital

We are delighted to confirm RadioActive101 has been awarded €21,000 from the University of East London’s Research Capital Scheme to supply new equipment and upgrade existing kit.  This will ensure the team has up to date quality equipment for future broadcasting in the UK.

Times Higher Education Awards 2015

In the UK RadioActive101 has been entered into the Times Higher Education Awards 2015 by the University of East London as sole entry under the ‘Outstanding Digital Innovation in Teaching or Research’ category. This award recognises the innovative use of digital technology to improve an institution’s teaching, learning or research activity.  Winners will be revealed at a ceremony in the Grosvenor House Hotel in London, in November.
